What are the Google tag and GA4, and how do I install them on my website?
The Google tag sends measurement data from your site to Google services, while GA4 is the Google Analytics property used to analyze that data. You can create a GA4 property and install its tag using a method suitable for your website platform. First Check shows any tag it can access and reports when none is present.
Step by step
- Sign in to Analytics with your business Google account.
- Create a GA4 property and web data stream for your website.
- Verify the provided Google tag information.
- Add the tag using a method suitable for your website platform.
- Check the data flow using Google's diagnostics or real-time view.
- Run First Check again in TACT.
If you don't have it
If you do not have a Google tag or GA4, you can continue with activities that do not require them, but website measurement will be limited. TACT notes the missing tag in the First Check report.
